Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel. You will have the rest of the day to rest and explore the vibrant city.
On Day 2, we will rise early and make our way to the airport for a 35-minute flight to Lukla, a small mountain town situated at an altitude of 2,860 meters. Once we land, we will meet our trekking crew and embark on a challenging yet rewarding trek to Chutanga, which takes around 4 to 5 hours. Along the way, we will descend towards the Dudh Koshi River, pass through charming small villages, and begin our ascent towards Chutanga, where we will set up our campsite for the night. This remote village offers basic facilities, but interacting with the locals and learning about their way of life is a unique and rewarding experience.
On Day 3, after an early breakfast, we will embark on a trek towards Thuli Kharka via Zatrwa La, located at an altitude of 4,600 meters. The steep climb requires a good level of fitness but rewards us with spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas, including the iconic peaks of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makalu. The trail then takes us through beautiful alpine forests and pastures, yak herders' huts, and grazing grounds, before reaching Thuli Kharka, a remote village where we will set up our campsite and rest for the night.
On Day 4, we will begin our moderately challenging trek towards Kothe, located at an altitude of 3,691 meters. We will pass through magnificent forests of rhododendron and pine trees, alongside babbling streams and waterfalls. Along the way, we may spot a variety of birds and wildlife, including musk deer, Himalayan thar, and wild boar. We will then set up camp and spend the night in Kothe, where we can interact with the locals and learn about their way of life.
Day 5 will see us continue our trek towards Thaknak, situated at an altitude of 4,358 meters. We will walk through dense forests of rhododendron and juniper trees, and pass several small streams and waterfalls. Although the trek is relatively short, taking around 3 to 4 hours, the high altitude makes it challenging. As we gain altitude, the landscape will change, with the forests giving way to rocky terrain and snow-capped mountains. We will spend the night in Thaknak to acclimatize to the high altitude.
On Day 6, after breakfast, we will make our way towards Khare, located at an altitude of 5,045 meters. The trail takes us through rocky terrain, passing glacial moraines and icy streams. After breakfast, we will begin our trek towards Mera High Camp, which is located at an altitude of 5,780 meters. The trail takes us through rocky terrain, and we will need to cross the Mera La pass, which is located at an altitude of 5,400 meters. The climb to the pass is challenging but rewarding, as it offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
Once we cross the pass, we will descend to the other side and continue our trek towards Mera High Camp. The trek takes about 6 to 7 hours and is challenging due to the high altitude. Once we reach Mera High Camp, we will set up our campsite and rest for the night. Overnight stay in Mera High Camp.
Today is the day we've been waiting for - summit day! We will wake up early, have breakfast, and begin our climb towards the summit of Mera Peak. The climb is challenging and requires a good level of fitness, as we will need to use crampons and ice axes to navigate the snowy terrain. We will ascend slowly and steadily, taking breaks as needed to rest and hydrate. The climb takes about 7 to 8 hours, but the stunning views from the summit make it worth the effort. Once we reach the summit of Mera Peak, we will take a moment to savor the accomplishment and take photos before descending back to Mera High Camp. Overnight stay in Mera High Camp.
We have included a reserve day in case of any unforeseen circumstances, such as bad weather or altitude sickness. If everything goes as planned, we can use this day to explore the surrounding area or rest before continuing our trek. Overnight stay in Mera High Camp.
